My Story
Hello, I am the woman behind Life in the Middle Years.

I am a woman in my 40s, exploring a different chapter of life, and this journal is where I am writing it down.
After years working in education and learner support, I have taken a career break. I am using this time to think carefully about the next stage of my working life, and about what I actually want it to look like.
Building something of my own
I am interested in independent income: learning new skills, trying things out and slowly building something that is mine. I am a beginner, and I will be sharing the experiments as well as the results.
A homestead by Lake Victoria
I am also developing a lakeside homestead in Kenya, near Lake Victoria. It involves land, gardening, plans for accommodation and a hope for more sustainable living, along with all the realities of building something from a distance.

I did not want to wait until everything was finished before I started sharing it.
The things I love
Books, interiors, home entertaining, travel, a good glass of wine, gardening, and the beautiful everyday details that make an ordinary day feel special.
This blog documents the journey as it happens, rather than waiting until everything is finished and tidy. Some of it will be thoughtful, some of it practical, and some of it simply lovely.
Here is to the middle years, the unexpected adventures and everything we are still becoming.
Little Moments, Big Becoming.
