Your privacy matters. This page explains, in plain English, what this site collects and why. Life in the Middle Years is run by Dorcus Odidi in Manchester, United Kingdom.

If you join The Middle Years Letter, I keep your email address, the page you signed up on and the date. I use it only to send you the letter. You can ask to be removed at any time by emailing info@lifeinthemiddleyears.co.uk.

Contact form

If you send a message, I keep your name, email address, the reason you chose and your message so that I can reply. Messages are not shared with anyone else and are deleted when they are no longer needed.

Story suggestions

If you use the story suggestions on the homepage, the words you type are sent to an AI service to choose stories for you. They are not stored by this site, so please do not include personal details.

Shop orders

When you buy from the shop, I keep your email address, an order reference and how many times you have downloaded your file, so that I can give you your download, help with problems and handle refunds. The legal basis is carrying out our contract. Payments are handled by Paddle.com, the Merchant of Record, who process your payment, tax and invoice details under their own privacy notice; I never see your card details. Order records are kept for up to six years for accounting purposes and then deleted.

Who I am and who I share with

I, Dorcus Odidi, am the data controller. I share data only with the services that run this site (hosting and database), with Paddle for orders, with professional advisers where needed, and with authorities if the law requires it. Data is protected with access controls and encryption. Some providers may store data outside the UK, under approved safeguards such as standard contractual clauses.

Cookies

This site does not use advertising or tracking cookies. It only stores a small note in your browser to remember that you have seen the cookie notice.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you can ask to see, correct or delete the information I hold about you. Email info@lifeinthemiddleyears.co.uk and I will respond within one month.
